#479. irene the vacation

August 31, 2011

thin shade
the light from clouds crossed sun
water speaking
with the wind
pressure changes ozone depletes
exhilarated
run on grass
bright day after high sky blue sea
shout

#393. a last walk

September 26, 2010

a last walk with the hound
across the footbridge steps
echo raw roar of the sea
gentle hush flower fields
scent the chill autumn
evening comes lights
the sky and instant
future once now
knowing peace
thru storms
as we hold
on course

forward through
memories to come
clearly

open to the sky
brothers still brothers
our moments are ours
shared sharp sure

brothers no matter
the present
our childhood remains

All of life for death.

“Half the sky for praying, the other half for the beauties of the night.”

A third of life for growing, a third of life for striving and a final third for understanding.

A quarter of the night for dreaming, a quarter for poems,

a quarter for the unknown adventure and a quarter of the night for my lover.

#87. Long Isle Pastoral

November 20, 2009

a green blurb of a thing
black and red
foundation houses
skated roofs
against a brassy sky
hazy (or lazy
silver cloud lining
copper
blue
somewhat deep sound of wave
slap
against the sailboat
i wanna be the mast.

#70. There’s Something

November 3, 2009

There’s Something

in the turn of a narrow drive
a sweep of field
the decaying house stark
against Long Island sky.
The ruined garden echos lovers
whisper in the long ago
moonlight.

How beautiful can the silhouettes of trees be?
What earth stirring there is
in a small placid lake
separated from a crashing sea
by a small strip of woodlands.

Oh the ducks are so well
organized
but the gulls go thier own way.
