#366. summer chill

August 26, 2010

and now the season
begins to fade
the leaves
meditate
upon
hue
and i
watch
the children
playing by sunny
shores not believing
in the school bell’s peal

#348. the cutter eagle

August 8, 2010

i built a ship
a childhood
balsa and pine
on my small hands
the hands of my dad
large and sure
we worked so hard
to build and paint
the cutter eagle
running home
after school to sand
the hull smooth
and dream

complete
i gave it to my dad’s
father when he admired it

years later
it returned to me
after deaths
it was covered
in dust and cobwebs
rigged it

as my years passed
it grew tattered and
broken and thrown away
with one of my failed lives

but my ship still lives
rotting on in a landfill in jersey
and here within my double planked
mind making its way across the endless
sea

you dream such soulful dreams
i’m glad that you share them with me
they explode
all my black and white themes
turning them orange
purple
and green.

red dreamer
dreamin’ in red
letting the heart poems out
from soul to head
red dreamer
sleeping in bed
sweet visions tonight
all fears fled.

blue dreamer
dreamin’ in blue
shaping the soul poems go
from deep in the pool
blue dreamer
knowing life’s rule
life is suffering
all the Endless school.

golden dreamer
dreamin’ in gold
building the mind poems high
from thoughts to soul
gold dreamer
creating so boldly
the visions and dreams
all crowns told.
