#553. old year new year

December 31, 2012

tell me a story
a story as stony as time
time is not the story but the stone
standing under the tree out standing in the rain
leafy fingertips brushing lips trusting truthful diamond rain
a new universe in a communion of umbrellas

#495. afternoon ache

December 5, 2011

drops
came down
today crowds
hustled and sighed
under shelter wrapped
tight shivering peering
puzzling over the homeless
woman turning beaming sunshine
she walks dry within the winter rain

#421. learning

November 3, 2010

teacher
teach thyself
rain enters That meadow
with the wildflowers
up from the earth
flamed colors
knowing
breeze

the rain
drops millions
of mirrors endless
shattered hues and tints
all hinting at the gift of death

twirling in a sharp business suit
wild laughing possessed man
has lost or found it all
and it dont matter
one damn bit

#392. raining stars (thanks L

September 23, 2010

rain water
stars
flash sharp
rays
every where
glow
sparks flying
eyes
shining dark

early
market morning
with echoes
of harley engines
after the sparkles
comes the rain
new york
sunday morning
crowd
warmly
aware
happy to be out of the rain
under the FDR
express way
to community
communal activity
and the local fixings for an aces dinner

#362. cool hand

August 22, 2010

my mind
is still not right
luke

stand in the rain
with you
it’s just rain

your ditch
boss our dirt
our dark death

we understand
each other
all right

#333. social ism

July 24, 2010

odd notions
an ocean of sweat
hurricane manhattan
floodtide up hudson putnam
lakeside the cool remedies are sought

glasses tinkle conversation flows ebbs
bananas fosters friends shots
gather swimming night
dawnward bound
together

#319. saturday cinquain

July 10, 2010

break in
the hot weather
people back on the streets
the sound of water is city
music

#318. heat wave

July 9, 2010

in
the subway
with
all the odors
of
decaying life
the
heat blasts
by
the people
on
platforms
are
wilting
in
the stench
then
get aboard
the
long train
to
hot stations
then
up stairs
and
down passages
and
up stairs
then
out into the rain refreshed breeze
