#405. autumn terrace report

October 13, 2010

fragment of summer
night stars
over
manhattan
a brief piece of peace

the free joy cries of children
and the barking answers of dogs
with the scent of street vendor barbecue
tickling my nose i lean back and close my eyes
as you reach over and playfully gently tug my beard

Sounds like a lovely autumn evening in the City. Cheers!

  2. Street Vendor smells such a staple of Manhattan. Sweet piece.

The sound of children and dogs in such a large city – that’s what is so wonderful about New York – its multitude of textures and lived-in quality. Nice poem 🙂

The last line caused me to close my eyes and be in that moment. So real.
