#384. life after 9/11 (nyc 2010

September 15, 2010

early
market morning
with echoes
of harley engines
after the sparkles
comes the rain
new york
sunday morning
crowd
warmly
aware
happy to be out of the rain
under the FDR
express way
to community
communal activity
and the local fixings for an aces dinner

The last time I was NYC this spring it was raining…I can see why on a Sunday folks were glad to not have more rain.

This poem is excellent – to me it says how quickly people try to forget tragedy…and continue on with their lives (whether they are successful at that or not). Humans are so resilient and yet…sometimes the tears need to keep falling with the rain that little bit longer.
