#382. elemental (for leonard peltier

September 12, 2010

tell me wind
do you dry the tears
shed thru injustice

answer me fire
does flame burn hope
locked in concrete

inform me water
does your song lift spirit
bound by steel

convince me earth
is dust the reward for life
lived in chains

speak to me wood
will creation not welcome
life home

I love the questions posited in the poem…they convey a deep meaning to me this weekend especially…well said my friend.

I agree with Charles. The questions poised in this poem are heart-wrenching considering the ‘anniversary’ of the 911 bombings.

This poem is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
