to live in the blind
design
to die
on a bridge in time.
so,
send my final effects with magellan around capes horn and hope.
toss all my lover’s final pain on that ship
and if it sinks?
the moments remain.

This gets better by the night.
One hundred may be a lucky number, if you’re lucky.

So what’s the deal here anyway, did you really write those last four lines? In a century like this one?
The geography is nice, mythic, the lover’s pain balladic, but the final effects is what really does it. Thanks, we needed that.
yeah i did write those lines in a century like this one. but i spent a night in olson’s house in gloucester back in 1981 and i have never really recovered from the experience
i like the carpetbombing, better than a poet bombing? i guess.
